'지구촌 가족'이라는 말이 더이상 생소한 단어가 아닌 세상이다.
세상은 나날이 가까워져가고 있는데, 아이러니하게도 우리의 관계는 점점 멀어지고 있는 것 같다.
말보다 문자메세지가, 사람을 만나 토론를 하는 것보다 휴대폰으로 서핑하는게 더 간편하다.
사람보다 기계가 더 친숙한 요즘, 얼굴을 맞대고 보는 관계가 더더욱 절실해지는 것일지도 모르겠다.

나는 한국에서 태어나고 자랐고, 성인이 되어서는 여러나라를 여행하면서, 다양한 경험을 하고, 배웠으며, 영향을 받았다.
그리고 사람들과 소통하는 것을 좋아하고, 자연물이나 태양계 등 모든 것들과의 교감을 좋아한다.
이제 내가 가장 큰 영향을 받은 한국에서 한국 전통의 기법과 재료를 가지고, 어느 지역 출신이던, 어디에서 왔던, 무슨 일은 하던,
마음과 마음에서부터 시작하여, 소통하고 싶다.

이번에 목걸이와 브로치들을 칠보, 도자기, 보석, 전통매듭과 여러 끈으로 만들어 보았다.
참고로 칠보는 유리 물질로서 일반적으로 불투명의 것을 의미한다.
융합성질에 의해 금속의 표면에 장식하거나 보호를 위해 주로 쓰이며, 도자기 등에도 적용 가능하며, 에나멜링이라고도 불리운다.
매듭은 끈이나 비슷한 재료의 것을 묶거나 엮어서 만드는 것이며, 한국에서는 칠보와 마찬가지로 전통의 방식이 있다.
이번에 특수 가공한 도자기를 제작하여, 두께감이 있으면서도 단단하게 완성할 수 있었고, 내가 느끼는 칠보의 매력인 '은은한 반짝임'을 더욱 살릴 수 있게 구현하였다.

이 작품들 통해 관계의 시작이 되는 '너와 나'를 통해 상대(사람이던, 동물이던, 사물이던간에)와의 소통을 말하고 싶었다.

You and I-Communication and harmony

Nowadays 'world family' is not a special word anymore.
The world is closer than you think, but ironically face to face relationship seems to be getting distant more and more.
Text messages rather than talk, search mobile internet rather than meeting are more convenient.
Digital devices are more familiar than face to face relationship now.
So that is why our relationships seems to be getting more desperate.
I grown up in South Korea. And have had trip to many countries. learned, experienced, tasted, felt, inspired.
Also love to communicate with people, nature, planets and all.
Now with Korean traditional techniques and various materials, No matter where you from, wherever you are, whatever you do, want to Mind-to-mind communication.

I made necklaces and brooches with Korean traditional Chilbo, ceramics, jewelry stones, Korean traditional knots and some pieces of straps.
Chilbo means a glassy substance, usually opaque, applied by fusion to the surface of metal, pottery, etc. as an ornament or for protection and it calls Enameling also.
The knots is made with piece of ribbon or similar material tied or folded upon itself and used or worn as an ornament, has Korean traditional style.
I made Special process Ceramics for this exhibition which has thickness and hard, could express Chilbo`s 'soft colors' much more than my expectation.

My work 'You and I' is that our basically relationship starts no matter who you are(people, animals, things or whatever), share ideas together.
